whap

sunny sunday
a pleasure to ride
cornering with grace the goal
team follows like a wave

innocuous puddle of water
slightly tilted bike
loss of traction
hello pavement

no one ran over me
an moment of biking ballet

pavement, meet hands
and chin
and teeth

bounced onto my back
blood on the jersey
testimony to pain

three stitches required
teammate's house turned clinic
thanks for marrying a doctor

invincibility is a dangerous disease
i am cured

Oh, that's terrible! Ouch. At least you found a bit of poetry in the pain.

(where are the stitches?)

on me chin.

As I was laying on my teammates living room floor getting sewn up I really wanted to ask for someone to take a picture so I could post it here.

But then that seemed overly dramatic and potentially gross.

Hehe. I had almost typed "Where's the photo?!" in my first comment, but I thought you would think I was a freak.

Ooh, chin stitches! Those are fun. I had some of those in high school after a volleyball-related accident.
